The much-anticipated JIOSPACE Photography Awards 2023 (JPA 2023) has concluded, unveiling the talented winners across three captivating categories. Since its launch in October 2023, the competition has attracted a remarkable number of entries, showcasing the extraordinary talent and creativity of photographers within the vibrant community of Section 19, Petaling Jaya.
Held in conjunction with the JIOSPACE PHOTO FESTIVAL 2024, JPA 2023 marked a spectacular finale to the grand closing of the photo festival. Organized by JIOSPACE in collaboration with co-organizer Artishutter Studio, this annual competition aims to celebrate the art of photography and promote the rich life and culture of Petaling Jaya, particularly Section 19.
Under the visionary leadership of Sean Ng, the CEO and founder of Jio Buddy Sdn Bhd, JPA 2023 sought to encourage photographers to capture the essence of Section 19 in Petaling Jaya. Sean Ng expressed, “This initiative fosters the creation of captivating photographic content within this lively community, celebrating the vibrant life and activities in the Section 19 vicinity, home to JIOSPACE.”
The three competition categories are as follows:
- PORTRAIT@JIOSPACE: All portraits must be shot within the vicinity of JIOSPACE.
- LIFE@JIOSPACE: Photographs should depict the life and environment within JIOSPACE.
- MY SECTION 19: This open category allows photographers to showcase Section 19 PJ in their own unique way.
With a total of RM80,000 worth of cash and products as winning prizes, JPA 2023 stands out as one of the most significant local photography competitions in recent times. The overall grand prize winner, receiving RM8,000 (RM4,000 Cash & RM4,000 Cash vouchers), is chosen from the 1st place winners of each category.
The prize distribution includes:
- 1st Place: RM6,000 (RM3,000 cash & RM3,000 cash vouchers)
- 2nd Place: RM5,000 (RM2,000 cash & RM3,000 cash vouchers)
- 3rd Place: RM3,000 (RM1,000 cash & RM2,000 cash vouchers)
- Consolation Prizes (x10): RM1,000 each (RM500 cash & RM500 cash vouchers)
