Naza Premira introduces Piaggio Medley S 150 ABS

Petaling Jaya (10 August 2017) — In conjunction with the NAZA Merdeka Autofair 2017, Naza Premira Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Piaggio vehicles in Malaysia, is pleased to introduce the new Piaggio Medley S 150 ABS.

“Quality customer experience is the main objective of our NAZA Merdeka Autofair 2017 and the launch of the new Medley scooter will be an extension of our effort in providing Malaysians with high tech products.”

“We are indeed very proud to launch the stylish Medley S to the local market. The new Medley is designed for those who need a modern looking scooter for commuting. We also include high safety equipment such as dual disc brakes with ABS and large diameter wheels,” said Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Group Executive Chairman, Naza World Group of Companies.

The Piaggio Medley S 150 ABS takes on metropolitan areas with grit and personality. The front view stands out from the classic high wheel scooter look. The metallic vertical element (the ‘tie’) stands out in the centre of the front shield, thereby accentuating a certain family feeling with recent Piaggio production.

The surfaces are more extended, all to the advantage of aerodynamic protection and therefore riding comfort. The handlebar, shaped to guarantee protection of the rider, houses a refined instrument cluster with a chromium frame.

The digital display makes all the necessary information available, while the complete arrangement of warning lights keeps tabs on all the functions, starting with the “Start & Stop” feature and then moving along with the classic “injection check”, oil pressure, ABS and Immobilizer activation indicators.

The front shield has a spacious glove compartment that can be easily accessed from the rider’s seating position. There is also a USB socket inside the glove compartment, practical for you to charge your smart phone.

The saddle, large and comfortable even on the passenger section, has an electric opening latch controlled from a button on the handlebar as well as the traditional mechanical latch located in the leg shield back plate glove compartment.

There is also the innovative LED daylight running lights and headlight become true somatic distinctive traits.

The front end is characterised by a fork with 33 mm stanchions in diameter, whereas a pair of double acting shock absorbers and coil springs with preload adjustable to 5 positions work at the rear axle.

The 16” front wheel, in addition to providing stability, safety and comfort, vertically streamlines the entire front end. The wheel rims are aluminium and boast an elegant six split spoke design.

Thanks to this configuration, the large wheel rims (16” front and 14” rear) made of aluminium alloy with an elegant six split spoke design and the tyres (100/80 front and 110/80 rear) promises good stability and nimbleness as the weight is contained at a light 132 kg (kerb).

Keeping close to its practical lines, the tail section has 36.2 -litre helmet compartment that has enough space to hold two flip up helmets.

This result is obtained thanks to the well-designed shape of the tail and the repositioning of the fuel tank at the centre of the footboard. The centrally located fuel tank also helps the Medley in its handling department as the weight is now focussed to the middle part of the scooter.

The braking system is made up of a single 260 mm front disc, with double floating pistons, coupled to a 240 mm disc at the back. The two- channel ABS is a standard equipment and it ensures the wheels do not lock on slippery surface, a problem known among scooterista around the world.

The Medley utilises a iGet derived 150 cc engine, equipped with a “Start & Stop” system, electronic fuel injection, four valve timing and liquid cooling.

This is an engine at the top of its category in terms of performance and environmental friendliness. It gushes out 15 hp at 7,750 rpm while torque is rated at 14.4 Nm at 6,400 rpm, more than enough to ensure a zippy ride across town.

The new Piaggio Medley engine guarantees lengthy service and maintenance gaps. Fluids and filters are changed every 10,000 km and valve clearance is adjusted only every 20,000 km. Overall fuel consumption benefits from the optimisation of each and every component: mileage on the WMTC cycle reaches 45.9 km/l.

In conjunction with the NAZA Merdeka Autofair 2017, the first 33 units will receive a rear carrier, top box, back rest, floor mat and two years free service on top of the standard two years manufacturer warranty.

The Piaggio Medley S 150 ABS is tagged with a basic selling price of RM17,000.00 without GST.
