A new kit lens with improved optical performance
An outstandingly compact and lightweight camera system is attained when the D3300 is combined with a new kit lens, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR II, employing a retractable-lens mechanism and improved optical performance compared to its predecessor, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR. Stable shooting is ensured with an easy-to-hold grip and the Vibration Reduction (VR) function provides an effect equivalent to shooting at a shutter speed 4.0 stops faster4. A minimum focus distance of 0.25m (0.8ft) enables photographers to get much closer to the subject, while its attachment ring that does not rotate offers improved operability for circular polarizing filters. The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR II also comes with the option of a flower-shaped lens hood that effectively reduces ghost artifacts.

Beautiful images and videos to last a lifetime
The new Nikon D3300 delivers outstanding image quality with easy operability by leveraging Nikon’s renowned technologies. The 24.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor is manufactured without an optical low-pass filter (OLPF), producing unprecedented levels of detail and sharpness in its class. Nikon’s EXPEED 4 image processing engine translates the data from the sensor into incredibly clear, lifelike images and videos with vivid colors and minimal noise. The camera offers improved depth and clarity in gradation rendering and higher accuracy of automatic white balance. Impressive performance is possible in extreme low-light situations with an ISO range of 100 to 12800 that can be expanded to 25600.

Nikon D3300 includes the Picture Control System, Nikon’s original system of image creation settings to make capturing beautiful images hassle-free. It allows users to easily control image characteristics such as saturation, brightness, hue, contrast and sharpness, and these settings can be saved and registered as custom Picture Controls.

The D3300 also houses features such as an advanced 11-point autofocus system that enables users to find and keep focus while maintaining a clear view of the subject, and a high-resolution 921K-dot, 3-inch TFT LCD screen with a 160° viewing angle.

When images alone can’t tell the whole story, the Nikon D3300 offers Full HD recording with high quality 1080p video. Users can create memorable, cinematic quality videos and easily share HD content via the mini-HDMI output.

Enhanced creativity and retouch features
The Nikon D3300’s 13 special effect modes and various retouch options make it easier for budding photographers to express themselves.

Four new special effects have been added to the D3300. The new Super Vivid effect for stills and movies, increases saturation and emphasizes whole colors to sharpen contrast. The Photo

Illustration effect emphasizes edges and reduces colors to make the image look like an illustration, while the Pop effect increases color saturation to create a brighter look. The new Easy Panorama effect enables photographers to create stills during live view.

Two additional retouch features have been added for enhanced post-shooting enjoyment. The Photo Illustration feature creates an illustration effect after the shot has been captured. The D-Lighting (for portrait subjects) feature ensures the subject is beautifully exposed while retaining the ambience of the background.
