Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd is enhancing the online shopping experience for consumers who value product authenticity and quality, with the launch of its new official store on Shopee Mall, a dedicated in-app portal which houses official stores by brands and retailers.

Shell Malaysia believes that a strong digital presence with a clear selection of genuine premium quality lubricants on Malaysia’s no.1 e-commerce platform, Shopee, can help it reach and engage with a wider customer base.

The move will enable consumers to purchase directly from Shell as the brand owner. This provides peace of mind to those who are wary of the prevalence of fake and unauthorised products sold online.

Among the selection of premium Shell lubricants available is the new 0W low viscosity range comprising the Shell Helix Power, Shell Helix Protect and Shell Helix ECO. Shell Malaysia aims to encourage more car owners to choose these lubricants that provide better fuel economy and lower carbon emissions towards enhancing sustainability.

All Shell lubricants sold via the Shell Lubes Official Store on Shopee Mall are guaranteed 100% authentic and come with a 15-day free return policy and free shipping nationwide. Additionally, with the Shopee Guarantee feature, payment to Shell Malaysia will only be released after goods received are confirmed to be genuine and in good condition by the buyer.

The online store aims to offer more than just genuine Shell Helix passenger car and Shell Advance motorcycle engine oils with `Untuk Pasaran Malaysia’ labels. Soon, the store’s offerings will expand to include a variety of retail products such as Shell merchandises as well as Shell SELECT products.

Shell Lubricants Marketing General Manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Nyon Kam Yew, said that the company hoped that the collaboration with Shopee would enable it to tap into the vast potential of the online space and connect it to its well-established offline network of workshops and retail stations to ensure a seamless premium experience for its customers.

“The current situation has clearly accelerated the adoption of e-commerce among Malaysian consumers. Many of them are loyal customers who trust in the Shell brand and enjoy the experience at our Shell retail stations and branded workshops. We aim to continue delivering a similar experience through Shopee Mall where they can now shop online for Shell products with convenience and confidence,” he said.

Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director of Shopee said, “We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with Shell as we use the uniqueness of Shopee Mall’s 100% authenticity guarantee and free return policies to give consumers peace of mind when shopping online. We will also support the launch of the Shell official store with our fully integrated payments and logistics solutions, in-app marketing tools, exposure in campaigns like the Shopee 10.10 Brand Festival and more to support their business and e-commerce objectives. With all these efforts in place, more Malaysians across the nation will have the opportunity to access Shell’s premium range of products without a worry.”

Shell Malaysia has been actively monitoring lubricants being sold online. Through close engagements with various e-marketplaces, the company was able to clamp down on 179 online shops and remove 278 online listings in H1 2020.

On 23 July 2020, Shell Malaysia working closely with enforcement officers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), successfully raided a location selling fake lubricants. Courier packets containing engine oil destined for online shoppers all over Malaysia were found on the premises.

Shell Malaysia advised consumers shopping online to protect themselves by buying official genuine Shell lubricants only from the Shell Lubes Official Store on Shopee (shopee.com.my/shelllubesofficial.os) with ‘Untuk Pasaran Malaysia’ labels complete with QR codes that can be authenticated via SHARE website (www.shell.com.my/share).
