Axle Motorsport and MAM to host eRGP Causeway Edition

After the huge success of the eRacing GP Southeast Asia (eRGP SEA) Global Edition, which saw a number of real-life racers up against the best virtual racers from the Asia Pacific region. Axle Motorsport is expanding its online racing platform to the next level.

The next action-packed series, known as the Causeway Edition is sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM). Axle Motorsport is keen to continue the good work set out by MAM, where they ran their first Lock Down Edition where hundreds of drivers from all over Malaysia and Singapore went head to head on the RaceRoom platform.

President of Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir is delighted with the sanction of the eRGP Causeway Edition.

“It is great to see more e-Racing promoters launch Championships. More so when an ex-F1 driver and motorsports commentator helms it. I am sure Alex will also set a time and pace for others to beat. I want to congratulate Alex and his team for doing this. It will be great for all motorsports fans especially the e-motorsports followers.” he said.

Meanwhile, Axle Motorsport Founder, Alex Yoong is relishing the opportunity for the expansion of the eRGP SEA online platform and looking forward to collaborating with both countries ASN’s, Motorsports Association of Malaysia and Motorsports Singapore.

“Firstly, I would like to thank the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) for sanctioning the eRGP Causeway Edition which gives us a tremendous boost. With all these new drivers coming to esports through online simulator racing, we are keen to keep providing world-class platforms for these drivers to showcase what they can do.

“We received hundreds of participants weekly where drivers were trying to qualify for the final rounds. For this edition, we will be using the Tatuus Formula 4 car, which is just like the real Formula 4 car they use in Europe. We will also be racing on four of the fastest and most challenging circuits from around the world with the likes of Brands Hatch Circuit, Zandvoort Circuit, Laguna Seca Circuit and Suzuka Circuit.” added Alex.

The best Malaysian and Singaporean aged 18 and under will also win a free test with one of the region’s best karting teams, Stratos Motorsport. Team Principal, James Russell is delighted to be involved said, “We know how good these guys who race on the simulator are and believe that they’d go just as quickly on the real thing as well. We would love to be the ones to give them that opportunity”

The upcoming races will feature the commentary by Dez Corkhill and Alex Yoong himself. The series will be running like a normal race event every Sunday at 2.00 pm onwards from April 26th until May 17th 2020.

For the record, Axle Motorsport is set to be expanding its online simulator racing platform where they will be hosting another series known as eRacing GP SEA Philippines Edition which is scheduled to kick-off next week.

This weekend will also see round 5 of 6 for eRGP’s Global Edition. Where the best of Asia Pacific will compete to take a spot on the podium.
