Petaling Jaya (12 November 2015) — Lexus Malaysia today unveiled the fourth generation Lexus RX – the best-selling model in their portfolio. Already a favourite among car enthusiasts, the all new Lexus RX has been further improved with the introduction of innovative features and elegantly redesigned aesthetics.
The all-new Lexus RX’s mix of sharp creases and curves represents a bold evolution in the model’s styling, sharing the same design DNA with other recently-launched models in the Lexus line-up. This includes the “floating roof” effect, and a bolder “Spindle Grille”, a signature of the Lexus brand.
“The RX stands for Radiant Crossover, and that is exactly what the Lexus RX is: Radiant. The all-new Lexus RX is another groundbreaking introduction to the Lexus line-up, and we are positive that it will be well-received by discerning Malaysian customers looking for both luxury and functionality,” said Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota.
The all-new Lexus RX is also bigger than before, with a 50mm increase in wheelbase, providing more interior room throughout. With an interior space optimised for five passengers, the new Lexus RX’s lowered rear floor section helps provide seating position comparable to that of the flagship Lexus LS luxury sedan.
During the launch, Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd commented, “While it is wrapped with an attractive and elegant design, the all-new Lexus RX also comes with redesigned hybrid and petrol powertrains, sophisticated safety technologies, drivers’ aids as well as new convenience and technology features, making Lexus RX the best-selling Lexus sport-utility vehicle (SUV) offering to date.”
Available in six variants – RX200t Premium, RX200t Luxury, RX200t F SPORT, RX350 Luxury, RX350 F SPORT and RX450h, the range now has three new exterior colours: Graphite Black GF (Glass Flake), Amber CS (Crystal Shine) and Deep Blue MC (Mica).
Engineered for high-quality functionality, the RX200t variants are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injected inline 4-cylinder petrol engine, and a 6-speed automatic transmission, while RX 350 has a 3.5-liter direct-injected V-6 petrol engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The upgraded RX 450h hybrid is now powered by a 3.5-liter direct-injected V-6 petrol engine with improved hybrid powertrain.
“With consumers’ safety placed as a top priority, the all-new Lexus RX comes with Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), 10 SRS Airbags, and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) & Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA),” Datuk Ismet added.
“Since we launched the Lexus RX in Malaysia in 2009, we have sold more than 2,300 units and this has definitely contributed to pushing Lexus Malaysia to 3rd spot in the luxury vehicle category in 2015,” he concluded.
Lexus Malaysia is offering On The Road Price without insurance for the improved RX ranges for private registration from RM388,800 for RX 200t Premium to RM520,200 for the RX 450h hybrid. Lexus Malaysia is aiming to sell 700 units of Lexus RX units in 2016.
