The proportions of the New BMW 520d Sport are defined in complete sporty BMW sedan styling with long wheelbase and hood, short overhangs, aft-set greenhouse, and its coupé-like flowing roofline. The design of the body’s slightly wedge-like shape works to further accentuate a sportier, forward-moving character.

This performance character of the New BMW 520d Sport is further highlighted with the addition of the M Aerodynamic exterior package. The upright BMW kidney grille – which appears from some angles to lean forward – symbolizes the forward-pushing motion of the car and together with the powerfully flared wheel arches, gives the front end of the car a stronger charismatic presence. This sporting presence is then completed with 18” Double-spoke light alloy wheels.

The New BMW 520d Sport is also fitted with the latest generation Adaptive LED headlights which illuminates the road ahead clearly and brightly under all conditions, while following curves and winding routes. Combined with high-beam assistant, the cutting edge lighting technology offering provides optimum road illumination by switching the high beam on and off automatically depending on the ambient light conditions and traffic situation to ensure excellent visibility when driving at night.

The fine-tuning carried out on the chassis of the New BMW 520d Sport makes for an even more assured conversion of engine power into dynamic performance and ride comfort. With Dynamic Damping Control, the New BMW 520d Sport delivers a suitable setting for every road surface and driving style through the Driver Experience Control buttons. The spring and damper systems respond with great precision to inconsistencies in the road surface and ensure optimum road holding at all times. The overall result is a balance between sporty ability and ride comfort that no rival can do better.

Equipped with the new generation four-cylinder diesel engine, the New BMW 520d Sport not only produces extra output and more instantaneous power delivery, but also delivers greater fuel economy. The premium sedan now produces an astounding output of 190hp from previously registering 184hp as well as with a torque peak performance of 400Nm in comparison to 380Nm previously. The car boasts a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 233 km/h. Its impressive power delivery are combined with an average fuel consumption reading of only 4.1 l / 100 km and C02 emissions levels of just 109 g/km, amounting to nearly 9% of improved fuel consumption from the previous engine offering in the BMW 520d.

These improvements in the New BMW 520d Sport is a further testament to the effectiveness of the ongoing development work by BMW engineers, which is to focus on the optimisation of combustion engines and other components under the BMW EfficientDynamics strategy.

Harris added, “The New BMW 520d Sport will continue to set the pace in its class in terms of fuel economy and driving pleasure with the extensive use of our BMW EfficientDynamics innovations. The exemplary levels of efficiency achieved further underlines the trailblazing character of the BMW 520d Sport, as do its elegantly sporty design which are defined by harmoniously flowing lines, the modern functionality of the interior as well as driver assistance systems from BMW ConnectedDrive. Additionally, innovations such as ECO PRO mode and the Auto Start-Stop function are now likewise fuelling this commitment to further build on its leading position.”

[ht_heading style=”” title=”Interior Design: Flawless ergonomics in a sporting luxurious ambience.” type=”h1″ font_size=”” text_align=”left” margin_top=”30″ margin_bottom=”30″ color=””]
The interior of the New BMW 520d Sport reveals a refined sporty impression and increased functionality. As in all BMW vehicles, well-researched ergonomics allow for optimum operation of driving controls and other functions. All displays, knobs and buttons
serving comfort functions are situated centrally for the use of the driver and front passenger.

Further emphasizing the sporty credentials of the New BMW 520d Sport is a dashboard which is fitted with an M leather steering wheel with interior trim in high gloss Black. The sportiness and elegance of the car is further emphasized by the multifunctional instrument display which displays different settings depending on the Driving Experience mode selected, whether ECO PRO, Comfort or Sport.

The Multifunctional Instrument Display, yet another first of its kind for a vehicle in its class. Instead of the two large circular displays with a fixed speedometer and rev counter typically found in traditional car designs, the new BMW Multifunctional Instrument Display is a 10.25 inch monitor which allows drivers to select displays from a wide range of data choices.

While the tidy design of two familiar large circular instruments will remain fundamentally unchanged, the left side speedometer and right sided rev counter can be replaced by other information according to the driver’s interest or needs, and even comes with a unique design offering visually matched colours.

Drivers can access different information displays depending on the selected driving mode. In improving readability, the classic display mode for the rev counter and speedometer increases the size of the numbers closest to the needles. Besides that, depending on the driving mode selected, drivers can customise the Multifunctional Instrument Display to show various styles, positions and also individual preferences such as status and function displays. Check Control updates or navigation prompts can also be customised.

For example, in COMFORT mode, the instrument display depicts a classical combination of four circular instruments with a magnifying glass function to highlight the car’s current speed and revolutions. Meanwhile, in ECO PRO mode the rev counter morphs into an EfficientDynamics display complete with an indicator showing the efficiency of a driver’s driving style. In SPORT mode, the display transforms to display the speedometer and rev indicators in digital format, with current gear engaged displayed prominently at the centre of the rev counter.

For functional elegance, the New BMW 520d Sport also brings together an extensive range of mobility services and driver assistance system from BMW ConnectedDrive features which includes BMW Apps, such as M Lap Timer, GoPro and Spotify, made available for both Apps store and Google Play store.

The ultimate premium sedan also enables seamless Bluetooth integration with Android and iPhone, even enabling Siri activation. Siri, the personal voice assistant for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices can now also be operated via BMW. Siri answers all questions as usual, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road traffic at all times.

Siri can be operated by activating the voice control by pressing the voice input button on the steering wheel. With Siri, the driver can make calls, select tracks, have text messages read out, retrieve diary entries, add reminders as well as call up other useful functions. To make sure the driver’s eyes stay focused on the road, the display of the iOS device remains switched off during the journey.
