D-Link Launches World’s First AC3200 Cloud Router

Malaysia (14 January 2015) — D-Link, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of home networking products launches their new flagship high-performance router – DIR-890L Wireless AC3200 Tri Band Gigabit Cloud Router. Boasting speeds of up to 3.2Gbps, the new router packs a punch with features such as Advanced AC SmartBeam™ technology, SmartConnect technology, SharePort™ and mydlink™ cloud management to make Internet-driven home entertainment faster and better.

Mr Jonathan Quek, Marketing Director for D-Link International said, “The DIR-890L Wireless AC3200 Tri Band Gigabit Cloud Router is the first high performance router to include SmartConnect technology, which turbo charges wireless AC-enabled devices. Smarter Networking Features for an Improved Wireless Performance
With Advanced AC SmartBeam™, the router beams wireless connections to connected smart devices. Equipped with six external high-gain antennas, it boosts speed and coverage of the network and ensures no lost signals even when moving from room to room at home. Advanced Quality of Service (QoS) efficiently distributes bandwidth amongst connected devices, and four Gigabit Ethernets provide high-speed wired connections for up to four personal computers.

The new SmartConnect technology turbo charges Wireless AC-enabled devices, giving them 3200Mbps throughput while simultaneously ensuring that devices running on Wireless N and older do not compromise the overall performance of the router. It works by integrating the radio interfaces into one Wi-Fi network name, providing users with a simple, easy-to-use wireless connection that provides reliable bandwidth.

Reliable Connectivity Across Three Bands Simultaneously with Tri-Band Technology
Harnessing the latest Wireless AC technology, device can provide transfer rates of up to 3.2Gbps (1300AC + 1300AC + 600N). The networking gadget can operate on the 2.4GHz and two 5GHz wireless bands concurrently using tri-band technology. This allows families to be engaged online at the same time, be in surfing the Internet, web chatting and emailing on the 2.4GHz band, while streaming high-definition digital media, playing online games, or making Internet video calls over the 5GHz band. The router is IPv6-ready, and has advanced QoS to handle data prioritization, ensuring that more important data, such as movie streaming, does not get disconnected over the air. The airtime fairness feature also ensures that users are automatically assigned the most appropriate bandwidth to suit their needs.

File Sharing over the Air at Your Fingertips with mydlink
The mydlink SharePort app allows users to simply connect a USB storage device to the router, and instantly share documents, movies, pictures and music with connected mobile devices, or to personal computers via the web portal. Creating a personal and secure cloud storage at home, SharePort allows for easy streaming of media files on multiple devices, file saving for offline use, and even uploading all over the air.

The router comes with one USB3.0 and one USB2.0 port, and can support storage devices of up to 1TB of content (with a maximum of 2TB disk size), and the SharePort app is available for free on Google Play and Apple App Store.

Fuss-Free Setup Using a Mobile Device or Router WPS
The Wi-Fi router can be easily setup with two fuss-free options. One can use the Quick Router Setup (QRS) Mobile app available for Android and iOS users simply by plugging in the router, opening the app, and following the few easy steps to get one’s home network connected without having to use a computer.

Alternatively, a secure network can also be created using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). By pressing the WPS button on the router, a secure connection to a new device will be instantly established.

If users also have other mydlink Cloud products such as IP cameras or Network Attached Storages, one can take advantage of mydlink Zero Configuration. Simply connect the other mydlink-enabled devices to the DIR-890L and the router will automatically link it to one’s existing mydlink account with no additional configuration required.

Easy Network Management with mydlink
The Gigabit Cloud Router is mydlink Cloud enabled, allowing users to easily access and view their network even away from home. Users can see who is connected to the router, change settings, or block access all from using an Internet-connected computer, or the mydlink app on a mobile device. This is great for parents who need to keep an eye on school-going children to make sure they are doing their homework instead of playing League of Legends.
