Kuala Lumpur (20 November 2014) — Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd today welcomed the new Suzuki S-CROSS, a stylish and practical lifestyle vehicle, into its model line-up. The Suzuki S-CROSS enters the Malaysian automotive market boasting a unique balance of technology, safety, space and versatility unlike any other offering in its segment.
Rugged yet modern on the outside, the new Suzuki S-CROSS is bathed in bold lines and muscular features which house cutting edge technologies and class-leading features. The S-CROSS’s physical structure, for one, is a result of intense aerodynamics-focused computer-aided engineering while the chassis itself is made of high-rigidity and lightweight materials. These characteristics help to heighten the S-CROSS’s performance, stability and fuel economy.
Powering the Suzuki S-CROSS is a lightweight, low-friction 1.6-litre petrol engine which produces a healthy 86kW (117hp) at 6,000rpm and 156Nm at 4,400rpm. It is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) which propels the front wheels of the 2WD S-CROSS. These efficient technologies combine to make the Suzuki S-CROSS one of the most economical cars of its class, returning an official fuel consumption rating of just 17.2km/L under the UNECE R101 New European Driving Cycle (NEDC Cycle).
The fuel-saving properties of the Suzuki S-CROSS are not achieved by compromising on sheer performance. It is still a highly capable machine in a straight line, doing 0-100kph in a respectable 11.0 seconds. Even more impressive is its mid-range performance. The S-CROSS dispatches 40-80kph in 5.3 seconds and 80-120kph in just 9.2 seconds, better than any other crossover in the same segment. This is due to Suzuki’s expertise in lightweight engineering – the S-CROSS tips the scale with a kerb weight of less than 1,185kg.
The Suzuki S-CROSS is generously equipped with the show to match its go. Its design-forward exterior is refined with functional features such as integrated roof-rails, aerodynamic wing mirrors, striking 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers and bright, automatic HID headlamps with daytime-running LEDs and fog lamps.
Inside, the theme continues with a multi-information display, cruise control with speed limiter, paddle shifters for greater transmission control, dual-zone air-conditioning, 7.0-inch navigation system with integrated rear-view camera, keyless push-start system and adjustable rear seatback. The most exceptional feature inside the Suzuki S-CROSS, however, is its double-sliding panoramic sunroof – the first of its kind in the world which offers a breath-taking view of the sky above come night or day.
Impressive equipment aside, the cabin of the Suzuki S-CROSS itself is a wonder in terms of space and practicality. Behind the seats which offer plenty of headroom and legroom is a cavernous 430-litre boot. The seats can be folded down to transform the rear quarters into a vast 875-litre cargo area, with maximum cabin volume rated at 1,269 litres in total.
The Suzuki S-CROSS guarantees peace of mind with a comprehensive suite of safety equipment that consists of 7 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Hill-hold Control.
