Kuala Lumpur (12 August 2014) – NEC Corporation of Malaysia will be introducing the NeoFace® Facial Recognition solutions in Malaysia for the first time, as part of NEC’s public safety offerings. NEC will be participating as main sponsor at Public Safety & Internal Security Asia 2014 held at the Grand Millennium at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from 12 to 14 August 2014.

The NeoFace® suite of solutions include NeoFace®Reveal, a software dedicated for forensic application that captures facial images from photographs and crime scenes, and which are enhanced and encoded for matching against a mugshot repository. The NeoFace® Watch will also be showcased, which is designed for operational security users. It integrates with existing video surveillance systems and works by extracting faces in real-time from cameras, instantaneously matching them against a watchlist of individuals to trigger an alert.

NEC’s facial recognition technology relies on a modified Generalised Learning Vector Quantization (GLVQ) algorithm which enables high speed and high accuracy facial detection and facial features extraction. The technology has been deployed worldwide for security purposes, such as for CCTV surveillance, border control, law enforcement, immigration as well as others.
