Media Session With The Surface Pro 3

Microsoft_logoKuala Lumpur (9 July 2014) –  Microsoft Malaysia invited a handful of Malaysia medias for an exclusive media immersion experience session on Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3. The Surface Pro 3 is the tablet which Microsoft claims would be a laptop replacement. Microsoft’s mission is to design a hardware that is fit for on-the-go usage as well as a fully functional laptop unit.

Since the first Surface Pro, Microsoft has been redesigning and refurbishing the Surface to become a better, lighter and powerful machine. The media session was led by Rukmani Subramanian, Microsoft’s Director, Partner Strategy & Programs, Asia-Pacific Region and Jovian Tan, Devices -Technical Solution Professional Enterprise Partner & Group. Rukmani shares with Malaysia medias on what makes the Surface Pro 3 so much more better and powerful compared to its predecessor – the Surface Pro 2.

Rukmani says, “Its the first laptop replacement tablet, a 12-inch device which is much bigger than Surface Pro 2, but lighter and thinner than the Surface Pro 2. Its also 20-30% thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air, with an increase in battery-life and much more processing power with an i3, i5 and i7 processor option. The Surface Pro 3’s fan has been reintegrated and the cooling system redesigned to keep it cooler. Improvements has also been made to the kickstand for use in multi-positions.”

Microsoft also made improvements to the Surface Pro Type Cover. The keyboard now comes with an additional magnet that snaps up to the tablet so that the keyboard is elevated for a better typing experience. It is one of the thinnest mechanical keyboards available in the market with backlit feature and a full row of Function keys. Microsoft even offers the Surface Pro Type Cover keyboard in 5 colour variations.

Rukmani also explained furthermore on another accessory that complements the Surface Pro 3 – The Surface Pen. The Surface Pen looks like any normal pen, cased in an aluminium body. It has 256 levels of pressure sensitivity and Palm Block technology so that obstruction does not happen when your palm is placed on the tablet while writing or drawing. The pen is clickable like any other normal pen for multiple uses. Either to select, drag and drop or to open up the One Note application on the desktop. The pen can be temporarily magnetised onto the Surface Pro 3 when not in use.

Other accessories that are coming soon for the Surface Pro 3 includes a docking station for the Surface Pro 3 and a Surface Pen Loop to secure the Surface Pen nicely in place.

The Surface Pro 3 has been made available for pre-order since 1 July and will commence for a limited time at participating retailers until 15 August 2014.
