KUALA LUMPUR (21 May 2014) – When students in Terengganu were each given an e-book by the state government, Sekolah Kebangsaan Paya Bunga was selected as one of three schools to trial run a Virtual Classroom project using the e-book. Complemented with a suite of devices including a Smart Board and a PC for each teacher, the school immediately saw a complete turnaround in student attendance and performance – an experience that may very well be sustained in the years to come thanks to the upcoming installation of its brand new, fully equipped computer lab worth RM 30,000.00.

The computer lab was today gifted to the school at a presentation ceremony during the launch of Intel Malaysia’s 2014 PC Refresh Campaign. It comes as a gift for the school following the successful achievement of a social CSR initiative conducted at last year’s ‘Generation Today’ campaign, where 15,000 roadshow visitors created the longest virtual human chain in the ‘Longest Touch’ rally.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prakash Mallya, Country Manager Sales and Marketing Intel Malaysia and Singapore highlighted the link between the school’s notable improvements through the use of the latest computing technologies with the productivity gains consumers will experience in refreshing their personal devices.

“Our experience with cases such as Sekolah Kebangsaan Paya Bunga helps demonstrate that a gain in productivity may be achieved if people were given the right set of tools. There are currently over 2.7 million personal computing devices in Malaysia over 4 years old,” said Mallya. “For owners of older PCs, this campaign may be an ideal time to refresh their PC.”

“Since the very first desktop, computers are now available in all sorts of form factors and sizes for different needs. However, while computers have changed drastically throughout the years, one thing remains consistent: our processors,” added Mallya. “We have and will continue to work with our partners to help provide low-power, high performance devices at competitive prices. No matter which form factor, the apps you want to run, or how you use your machine – Intel processors will help get the job done.”

“Our latest PC Refresh Campaign builds on the success of the previous years’ campaigns including 2013’s ‘Generation Today’ and we look forward to rolling out all the exciting events we have planned in support of this,” said Sameer Tupaki, Marketing Manager Intel Malaysia who was also present at the launch announcement.

“Thanks to our campaign collaborators, refreshing your personal device is easy and rewarding. In addition to updating your device to the latest processor and OS available in the market today, consultants from SNS Network Sdn Bhd will also be available at select retail locations to provide data back-up services to ensure a seamless move to your brand new device,” added Tupaki.

This year’s PC Refresh Campaign follows up on the recently concluded ‘Generation Today’ campaign and will be supported by ecosystem partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Microsoft.
