Shenzhen, China (26 May 2014): Shenzhen JEHE Technology Development Co., Ltd., one of the world’s leading cloud computing and system solution providers, has launched the new S200 G1 Microserver – a cold storage NAS server that delivers performance with ultra-low power consumption. It is powered by the new generation Intel Avoton C2000 SOC, which actually comprises an Atom processor optimised for server needs. The advantage here is that this 2.4 GHz quad-core processor manages to deliver high performance, while consuming very low power, thanks to an ultra-low TDP of just 14 W. This is actually three times lower than the Intel Xeon E3 CPU. In addition to the low power consumption, the new 22 nm fabrication process also bolsters system stability. Its fanless heatsink ensures that the heat it produces is efficiently dissipated and without producing any noise such as that produced by active heatsinks.

The S200 G1 incorporates the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Solution), which is run by a BMC (Base Management Controller) chip. The BMC monitors the physical state of the server using sensors and communicating with the system administrator through an independent connection. This allows an intelligent way of managing the storage server from a remote location.

The storage is handled by Marvell SATA control chip, supporting up to 14 SATA devices. The built-in m-SATA SSD drive ensures a minimal boot-up time. There are 4 UDIMM/2 channel memory slots to install up to 64 GB of DDR3 RAM with or without ECC. Additionally, there is a PCI-E 2.0 4X slot on-board, to install expansion cards such as RAID card, video capture card, and SATA card. It supports hybrid storage combining. Networking capability is provided by 2x Gigabit Ethernet ports and a 100 Mbps dedicated IPMI LAN port.

The chassis occupies a small footprint, thus allowing this system to be placed just about anywhere you desire. It supports 12 hot-swappable bays for 3.5-inch hard drives. While the CPU doesn’t have any active cooling, the chassis has three fans to take out whatever heat is produced within the casing while in use. The S200 G1 supports 64-bit versions of Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012 Server, Redhat, Fedora, SUSE11, Ubunti, and CentOS.
