Kuala Lumpur (7 October 2013) – Canon PhotoMarathon Asia 2013, the region’s largest photo competition returns to Kuala Lumpur with an unforgettable 8-day all expenses paid photo clinic to Kansai, Japan up for grabs. Taking place at the Boulevard, Berjaya Times Square on Saturday, 16th November, the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia 2013 will see young photography enthusiasts competing in the Junior category for the first time.

“This year marks the seventh edition of the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia and we are proud that it has been a very successful platform for professional and enthusiast photographers from all across the country to put their skills and creativity to the test. Bringing in brand new elements this year, besides introducing a new Junior category for the rising young photographers, we have prepared many exciting activities for the participants and the public such as lucky draws, models shoot, large format printing demo, service counter and free Wi-Fi photo printing,” said Donny Ling, Director of the Imaging Communication Products division of Canon Marketing (Malaysia).

“Similar to our previous Canon PhotoMarathon competitions, all registration fees collected from both the Professional and Junior categories will go towards supporting two charity homes, Shelter Home and the Monfort Boys Town. This competition aims to be more than just a photography competition, but we want to be able to contribute and give back to our community. This year, we are excited to invite the children from both the homes who will join us in the race and we’ll be teaching them photography tips and we hope it’ll be a fun day out for them,” continued Donny.

The Canon PhotoMarathon 2013 will see photographers from all walks of life pitting against time. The seventh edition of the photo competition will be held in a vastly different format this time around. Participants will now have to return to the staging area to upload their images before the next theme is announced. Participants will be tested on their interpretation of the three themes which will be randomly selected live onstage.
