STM technology

Superior optics

The optics comprise of a 6-goup optical zoom system with a long reach of up to 250mm and this translates to a 400mm telephoto range when used on a APS-C sensor DSLR such as the EOS 70D. The zoom distance, coupled with the compact size (70.0 x 111.2mm) and lightness (375g) make the lens highly suitable to be used as a general purpose lens.
For even better image quality, the EF-S55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM includes a UD lens and an Image Stabilizer (IS). The IS allows the lens to capture images with sharpness equivalent to 3.5 shutter stops faster*.
Consumers who prefer to shoot soft-toned images, for instance photos with the depth-of-field “bokeh” blur, Canon has fitted the EF-S55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM with a 7-blade circular aperture. With this, out of focus blurs and light sources in photos will have an attractive circular blur.
