Review – Redmi Note 11 Pro

Technology never stops innovating. Every year we witness the latest technology being revealed, followed by implementation on our home appliances and gadgets on daily basis. Among the fancy electronic products, smartphone is undoubtedly the most favourited choice. Throughout the last few competitive years, smartphone has elevated its status (and price) to rival or even, bested, the high-end gaming computer. But the question always remains… do you need a 10k smartphone for your daily lives?

Xiaomi clearly understands this well with their latest introduction of the Redmi Note 11 series. These mid-range smartphones offer some of the flagship features on an affordable price. Today we take a closer look at the Redmi Note 11 Pro.

Design

Redmi Note 11 Pro sports a trendy flat-edge body design. With the weight of 202g, the phone feels just right in my palm and the grip is solid. One hand operation is possible without stretching the thumb. The power button also serves as the finger print sensor. Even though it’s slim and tiny, but the finger print recognition is fast and accurate.

Redmi Note 11 Pro features the dual super linear speakers which are located at the top and bottom of the phone. When the phone is tilt to wide screen format for video or gaming session, the DSL speakers offer loud, crisp and outstanding stereo sound. For those who still prefer wired connection to your headphone, the 3.5mm headphone jack is also available on Redmi Note 11 Pro.

The Note series is famous with its big screen offering, and Redmi Note 11 Pro is no exception. This model features a large 6.67” screen with FHD+ (2400×1080) AMOLED DotDisplay. The screen is bright even under daylight, thanks to its 1200 nits peak brightness. You can also dim down the brightness to a comfortable level for your eyes in darker environment. The flexibility is there without the sacrifice of screen quality.

Aside from the brightness, this AMOLED screen also provides up to 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. This means ultra-smooth screen scrolling and lag-free transitions, at a slightly higher cost of battery consumption. Partner with the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut, the Redmi Note 11 Pro promises a truly enjoyable screen experience. All of these are protected under the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for your peace of mind.

Performance

Camera

Redmi Note 11 Pro inherits the flagship-grade 108MP camera from its predecessor, alongside the 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth camera for natural bokeh effect on your portrait shots. For the selfie lovers, Redmi Note 11 Pro also provides a 16MP front camera for all your selfie needs.

The main camera is capable of capture most of your photography subject. With Dual Native ISO, 9-in-1 binning technology and 1/1.52” large sensor size, this camera will do most of the jobs for you at the click of the shutter button. The 108MP camera comes in handy when you need to capture higher quality shots with more details to exploit.

What Redmi Note 11 Pro lacks in camera is probably the stabilization for both photo and video mode. There is also not much features on the video side, especially the lack of 4K video recording and video stabilization (digital or optical). It’s understood that this phone is not for the hardcore photo and video enthusiasts.

Nevertheless, the combination of the AI quad rear camera (108MP+8MP+2MP+2MP) is more than sufficient for your daily dose of photography.

Hardware

Redmi Note 11 Pro is powered by the advanced octa-core MediaTek Helio G96. Combined with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 and 8GB+128GB, this smartphone performs well in everyday tasks. The transition between apps is smooth, and the loading speed is decent. Other than the occasional hiccup (lag) during heavy app task and gaming, Redmi Note 11 Pro delivers the satisfying user experience.

In terms of connectivity, Redmi Note 11 Pro packs the 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and IR Blaster. There is no 5G network on this model.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro is equipped with MIUI 13, based on Android 11. The phone comes with standard apps, few bloatware, and some recommendation of top apps. After receiving the phone, there has been 2 times of OS update from the manufacturer. It’s always good to know your phone is in the caring list of the manufacturer, a sign of long lifespan.

Battery

One of the biggest improvements on Redmi Note 11 Pro is the battery department. The phone features a 5,000mAh high-capacity battery with the flagship 67W turbo charging. The battery lasted a day and half after average usage. Playing tiktok video and PUBG Mobile do drain the battery faster, but fortunately the turbo charging is speedy too.
