TikTok spreads Festive Cheer with #SenyumanRaya

TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile videos, today launches its #SenyumanRaya campaign to encourage Malaysians to keep the positivity as the nation observes the month of kindness and spiritual recalibration, in anticipation of the Aidilfitri celebration of gratitude.

Ramadan and Raya 2021 mark the second time Malaysians are celebrating the festive season in the new normal and despite spending it apart from loved ones for a consecutive year, TikTok is keeping the Raya spirit alive through a variety of specially curated TikTok activities, all packaged under its #SenyumanRaya campaign.

“Social media has kept many connected, entertained and educated over the last year and in continuing to leverage the potential and power of TikTok and the Internet, we want Malaysians to know that they are not celebrating the festive season alone. In fact, we are inviting everyone regardless of where they are to come together and celebrate Raya under one “social” roof. #SenyumanRaya covers all our favourite things about Ramadan and Raya from food and fashion right down to Raya preparation tips,” said Cheah Sheau Mei, User Content and Operations Manager, TikTok.

With Ramadan bazaars back in business this year, foodies looking for their bazaar favourites and fixes can participate in #SeleraRamadan (16th – 25th April) and share pictures, reviews and even recipes of their favourite Ramadan specials. Those whipping up their versions of bazaar favourites are encouraged to post cooking videos or kitchen tips to inspire others to try their hands at creating their buka puasa meals.

Users with a penchant for beauty and fashion can participate in #GayaRaya (26th April – 2nd May) and share their Raya makeup looks, beauty tips, hijab tutorials and fashion styling this festive season. Balik kampung may not be possible but why not dress up for Raya anyway to look and feel great! Challenge yourself to make-up transitions or give traditional Raya outfits a modern twist – all while putting your content creation skills to the test.

Raya open houses are something everyone look forward to so for those able to have family and friends over (within the government’s SOP), join in the #PersiapanRaya (3rd – 12th May) and get or share inspiration, advice and DIY tips for all your Raya preparation needs. From house decoration to at-home Raya photoshoots, expect plenty of informative content to help you navigate the Raya prep especially if this is your first Raya do. Speaking of open houses, TikTok will be hosting a TikTok Raya LIVE Open House on from 21st to 23rd May. The live concert will feature five local artists with hit songs and covers of Raya classics.

Finally, the last leg of the campaign will culminate in the official #SenyumanRaya hashtag challenge (13th – 23rd May) where users can give others a glimpse of their Raya celebrations and household festivities, together bringing senyuman Raya to all. So even if you can’t balik kampung this year, join the camaraderie and be comforted with the fact that Raya can still be celebrated with a larger community on TikTok.

TikTok’s #SenyumanRaya starts from 13th April, kicking off with #RamadanMubarak where users can send TikTok designed Ramadan greeting stickers to friends and family. To be part of this month-long campaign, simply turn on the TikTok app and start exploring.
