Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARiii), an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI) has introduced Prokerja – a website that offers job opportunities as production operators in the automotive and manufacturing sectors to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers or vocational college graduates.

The establishment of Prokerja would help to increase the mobility of our skilled local workforce by ensuring optimum youth participation through a more systematic job matching and placement program aimed specifically for them.

According to Dato’ Madani Sahari, Chief Executive Offiver of MARii, “Jobseekers will be able to gain work opportunities through the Industry Led Professional Certificate (IPC) program by registering online on Prokerja. The Industry Led Professional Certificate (IPC) is a capacity-building module organised by MARiii and designed by industry experts. The program began in 2012 and up till today, more than 33,000 youths have been trained under it”.

One of the objectives of the program is to produce a local workforce that is technologically skilled and able to keep up with advancements in manufacturing. This program fulfills the need for skilled and technologically trained local workers in the highly demanding and constantly evolving automotive and manufacturing sectors.

“Other than making it easy for those who are eligible to apply for the program, Prokerja’s positive impact include the production of highly capable workers through the learning of specific modules and industrial training. For 6 months, trainees are exposed to general industrial knowledge, skills and work culture. This program fulfills the need for skilled and technologically trained local workers in the highly demanding and constantly evolving automotive and manufacturing sectors”, adds Dato’ Madani.

No fees will be imposed during the duration of the program. Accommodation, transportation, food and drink costs are covered for all the trainees in the program and Takaful insurance will also be provided. Trainees will receive the Industry Led Professional Certificate (IPC) after completing the first month of classes and will be awarded the Industry Led Professional Certificate – Advanced Apprenticeship Programme (IPC-AAP) after completing 5 months of practical training. Both are industry-recognized certificates accredited by MARiii. This program will also allow the trainees to be eligible for the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) under the purview of the Department of Skills Development (JPK) through the Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu certification.

“On behalf of MARii, I hope that the youth of Malaysia will make full use of Prokerja to apply for the programme that will in time benefit the shaping of their future. Our records have shown that past graduates of the program have been successfully placed in the industry as production operators earning monthly salaries ranging from RM1,500 to RM2,000” said Dato’ Madani.

Selection criteria of trainees into the program are that candidates have to be healthy, aged between 18-30 years old and have obtained SPM/SKM/Diploma from local institutions or equivalent.
