Transportation is always a major concern for any developing country. It helps to connect people from different regions and develops the industries. With more transportation on the road, we have to deal with more traffic on daily basis. This means the increased possibility of encountering a traffic incident. Therefore, dash cam was introduced as the safety equipment to company our journey on the road.  It is getting popular and becoming a necessity for our cars.

Today we take a look at the latest offering from Mio, the MiVue 792 dash cam.

Design

MiVue792 is a compact but powerful dash cam that features the high-quality STARVIS CMOS sensor that captures clear and saturated images in low-light condition. The small form factor of MiVue 792 makes it easy to position on the windshield.

The dash cam is equipped with a 2.7” LCD screen that displays vivid colours with good contrast. The menu navigation is controlled via the side buttons which also function as shortcut keys for emergency recording and image capture.

MiVue 792 is packed with standard GPS, G-sensor and microphone. The dash cam utilises the GPS timing so the timestamp will always be accurate. When the 3-axis G-Sensor detects sudden changes in motion, it will instantly save a protected file that can’t be overwritten. MiVue 792 also does audio recording, in case you want to record any conversation for future reference.

The installation is simple. With the mounting bracket in place, just slide in the dash cam and adjust the angle accordingly. Once the power source is available, it takes just a few seconds for the MiVue 792 to boot up and start recording.

Features

STARVIS CMOS sensor

Being one of the most advanced dash cam produced by Mio, MiVue 792 excels in video recording thanks to the Sony’s premium STARVIS CMOS sensor which produce crispy sharp image with superb contract and rich colour rendition. Paired with a large aperture f/1.8 and 140’ wide angle lens, the MiVue 792 will capture every detail, every part of your journey with no compromise, especially that registration plate of the car in front.

The dashcam also boasts the recording up to 1080p Full HD quality with 30fps and 60fps option. If you want to add a rear camera the MiVue 792 is fully compatible with the MiVue A30 rear camera for dual camera synchronized recording at FHD 1080p/30fps.

Parking monitor mode is available when an external power source (such as MiVue™ Smartbox) is added. The parking mode monitor will start automatically and record whenever vibrations or motions in front of the camera are detected.

The STARVIS CMOS sensor and f/1.8 lens with WDR boosts the MiVue 792’s video recording capability significantly. The overall image is well-exposed with no over-contrast issue. Even the image quality might look noisy at certain scenario, but the details are still clearly visible.
