Introducing the new Volvo S60 – Volvo’s best handling and efficiently powerful car

Premium car maker, Volvo Car Malaysia, today revealed their latest offering to the Malaysian market, the new Volvo S60 T8 R Design. Labeled ‘a true driver’s car’ by Volvo, the S60 combines performance, sustainability and safety in a mid-size premium sports sedan.

The new Volvo S60 is powered by the award-winning T8 Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid that delivers 407hp and boasts a powerful performance through innovation. Turbocharged for maximum responsiveness, the engine balances strong performance with low emissions and fuel consumption, so the driver can enjoy the feeling of power, responsibly.

“What makes the Volvo S60 a driver’s car is the dynamic chassis and drive modes as it delivers excellent control and an engaged performance.  This, combined with the acclaimed technology from our 90 Series and other 60 Series cars, ensures that the Volvo S60 T8 R Design it is on its way to being one of the best sports sedans on the market,” said Nalin Jain, managing director at Volvo Car Malaysia.

The new Volvo models are the most luxurious that Volvo Cars has ever built, with the Volvo S60’s interior exuding quality and craftmanship. Users will enjoy its contour seats with exclusive Charcoal Fine Nappa Leather/Open Grid Textile upholstery and tailored dashboard. Not to mention the Harman Kardon Premium Sound system and panoramic roof.

Using the three principles of proportion, the intelligent use of technology and the best Scandinavian expression of luxury, the Volvo S60 is raising the level of luxury in the premium sedan market.

The Volvo S60 shares Volvo Cars’ own Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, safety technology and infotainment system, which is used in the top-of-the-line 90 Series cars and award-winning XC60, all of which have achieved industry-leading safety ratings. This makes the new Volvo S60 one of the safest cars on the road.

The City Safety with Autobrake technology assists the driver in avoiding potential collisions and is the only system on the market to recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. In a world-first for the mid-size sedan segment, City Safety now also engages auto braking to mitigate oncoming collisions.

The Pilot Assist system – which supports the driver with steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130km/h – has been upgraded with improved cornering performance. The Volvo S60 also includes Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation and other steering assistance systems. The Cross Traffic Alert further enhances safety for people inside and outside the car.

Volvo Cars’ Sensus Connect infotainment system is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keeping drivers connected at all times. The intuitive control is a tablet-style touch screen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment apps.

The Volvo S60 will be priced at RM 295,888 (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of excise duty and sales tax) and will be available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers nationwide starting tomorrow.

Customers will have the option to choose between five distinct colours: Fusion Red Metallic, Crystal White Pearl, Pebble Grey Metallic, Onyx Black Metallic and Birch Light Metallic.
