Moonton, eGG Network & HOG Esports team up to bring MPL Myanmar to new heights

Moonton, eGG Network and HOG Esports are collaborating to take the new season of Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) in Myanmar to the next level.

The first season attracted participation from 800 teams, achieving over 10,000 concurrent livestream viewers on Facebook. Season 2 of MPL Myanmar will boast an increased prize pool of US$40,000, where 768 teams competed in the qualifier stages, with the Regular Season to kick off on 29 March. MPL Myanmar Season 2 sponsors also include KBZ Banking, HyperX and Facebook Gaming.

Moonton and eGG Network’s partnership began in 2017 with the launch of the very first Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) for Malaysia and Singapore. The tournament saw tremendous response from fans with 37 million livestream views and attracted over 190,000 fans to the Season 2 grand finals event. The partnership achieved a new milestone in 2019 with eGG Network’s involvement in MPL Myanmar Season 2.

The Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) is the official premier Mobile Legends esports tournament for both players and fans, and a platform for teams to showcase their strength and ultimately be invited into regional leagues across Southeast Asia.

Mr. Jayden, Esports Manager of Moonton said, “Mobile Legends has over 1 million daily active players in Myanmar. We believe in the passion that the local gamers have for Mobile Legends esports, and have partnered again with HOG Esports to host MPL Myanmar Season 2. Our partner eGG Network from Malaysia will also collaborate with HOG Esports to take MPL’s regional production and fan viewing experience to the next level with digital assets that have proven successful in MPL MY/SG.

eGG Network share the same vision as us – to ensure production quality and esports professionalism for our fans throughout the region. We believe esports and gaming has no barriers. With a professional esports production, fans from different countries can enjoy Mobile Legends tournaments that are held outside of their country, while fans in the host country can have an exciting on-ground experience. This is also in preparation of our Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) later in the year where teams and their fans from all over the region will participate and spectate.”

CK Lee, Head of Sports, Astro said, “eGG Network is proud to be working alongside HOG Esports in Myanmar, a first for eGG Network’s longstanding partnership with game developer Moonton. We started MPL with MY/SG Season 1 and this has now landed in other regions. We have also successfully produced 2 seasons of MPL MY/SG, with season 3 ongoing.

eGG Network is a Malaysian esports company and one of the first to organise esports tournaments outside the country. This is a milestone for us as we strive for the development of esports in Malaysia, working alongside government bodies with shared goals of a successful and sustainable industry. Our talent and expertise has grown over our years of experience to become the gateway of esports in Southeast Asia. This would be our biggest regional project yet, and we’re aiming for greater opportunities together with our partners.

For this partnership, we will provide production and marketing consultation for the event to reach the MPL’s fans in Myanamar. The work will also cover planning the on-ground playoffs event alongside the local team in HOG Esports.

We’re also glad to deepen our engagement with eGG Network fans in Myanmar who watch the channel on SkyNet. We look forward to continue working closely with Moonton to ensure that MPL, and every Moonton organised tournament is maintained at a high standard throughout the region.”

Mr. Sebastian Quiroga, Marketing Manager of HOG Esports said, “We had thousands of fans join us at the playoffs event to watch their favourite team play during MPL Myanmar Season 1. Our livestream with a peak of over 10,000 concurrent viewers is new to us and the entire country, and we’re proud to pioneer this. With eGG Network on board, it can bring further excitement to the fans and attract more viewers.

HOG Esports hope to inspire the youth in Myanmar to take their passion for gaming and esports to the next level. We will support all talented gamers in Myanmar and continue to provide opportunities for them. The MPL Myanmar Season 1 is the beginning of an exciting journey for the esports scene and will continue with Season 2.”
