Knightsbridge Resources partners with U Mobile to launch TraqKid – Malaysia’s First Mobile-Based Child Tracking Kit

Knightsbridge Resources Sdn Bhd (Knightsbridge Resources) and U Mobile Sdn Bhd (U Mobile) today officiated the launch of TraqKid, Malaysia’s first mobile-based child tracking kit that provides end-to-end support for parents so that they may be proactively updated on their children’s whereabouts when they opt for the service. It also enables parents to seek seamless emergency assistance from TraqKid’s call centre and responders from Community Policing Malaysia should the need arise. TraqKid is made possible with a U Mobile SIM card that is enabled with a SIM-based location service technology.

At the partnership signing and launch ceremony, Chairman of Knightsbridge Resources & Founder / CEO for Community Policing Malaysia, Kuan Chee Heng, shared that the service was a first-of-its-kind in Malaysia. “TraqKid offers parents a seamless experience as everything can be done via a mobile phone. There is no need to purchase any other accessory because the SIM-based location technology embedded in the U Mobile SIM card is able to track any GSM device that it is hosted under.”

What sets TraqKid apart from other child tracking services in the market is its integration with their call centre and Community Policing Malaysia’s responders. “In an emergency situation, parents can get assistance to locate their child with just a touch of a button. Once an alert is triggered, we will mobilise our force to the location where the child was last tracked,” said Kuan.

U Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jasmine Lee, shared that U Mobile was happy to help make TraqKid possible for parents. “U Mobile is all about coming up with unlimited ideas that benefit our customers. We are delighted to be chosen as a partner by Knightsbridge Resources to offer this new service. It is also timely for us as we have switched on the additional spectrum awarded to us by the government last year. With our enhanced network, we are in the best position to support the service.”

The ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Hajah Rohani binti Haji Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and patron of TraqKid. During her speech, the Minister highlighted that, “Children are important assets towards the country’s development and they inherit our legacy to thrust forward our country to the next phase of development. Thus it is everyone’s collective duty and responsibility to take a proactive role in protecting and ensuring the safety of our children.”

To further complement the situation, the Minister encouraged parents out there to utilise the availability of this service that will assist in giving greater child safety.
