Redefine Mobile Photography: Oukitel U20 Plus

Nowadays, smartphone has emerged as the direct replacement for point-and-shoot digital camera. The latest product from Oukitel that will make its way to Malaysia is the Oukitel U20 Plus. This device is a camera oriented smartphone that features dual camera setup and decent specifications along with an affordable price tag.

The exterior of the U20 Plus offers an ergonomic design which is made from solid polycarbonate with curved edges and the rounded-off corners of its 2.5D glass panel makes it look beautiful. Its front panel presents a gorgeous 5.5-inch screen with 1080 x 1920 pixel Full HD IPS display made by Sharp. A circular fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear panel which provides security protection and also acts as a gesture control pad. You can tap or longpress on it and have the phone take a photo, return to the home screen, play or pause music, and other pre-selected functions.

Under the hood, it is equipped with a MediaTek’s MT6737T quad-core SoC clocked at 1.5 GHz paired with GPU ARM Mali-T720 MP2. It is coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of on board storage which can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 128 GB. The device is running on a SCUD-made 3,300 mAh capacity battery that is capable to last you throughout the day.

The rear cameras are the center of attention for the U20 Plus. Supported with autofocus and LED Flash, its main sensor adopts Sony’s 13 MP IMX135 and assisted by a 0.3 MP secondary unit which is used to collect image data like distance, depth, and light. This allows the dual rear cameras to deliver quality photographs with its built-in software algorithms. Plus, you can also opt for post-processing options to add bokeh focus effects too.

For selfies, the U20 Plus uses a 5 MP front-facing camera which can generate into 8 MP interpolated photos for higher resolution images.

The user interface for the U20 Plus is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS that gives you a stock Android experience with added software features such as wake gestures (draw a simple letter on sleeping screen to open a specific app), Super Screenshot (scroll down a page and keep adding to a screenshot), screen record, and has 6 different UI themes out of the box.

The phone supports dual SIM standby, with slots for a micro SIM and nano SIM card in a single tray. The nano SIM tray is a hybrid slot which means if you choose to occupy the nano SIM slot, you will have no room for the microSD card for storage expansion.

The body dimensions of OUKITEL U20 Plus is measured as 154 X 77.5 X 8.5 mm and weighs 195 grams. In terms of network compatibility, the OUKITEL U20 Plus will work with 2G: 850/900/1900/2100, 3G: 900/2100 and 4G: B1/3/7/8/20. Its other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and GPS.

The Oukitel U20 Plus is available now in Malaysia for an affordable retail price of RM639 only. It will come in three color options which are Jet Black, Space Grey and Champagne Gold.
