AkzoNobel ushers the Year of the Rooster with dashes of Blue

Kuala Lumpur (17 January 2017) — AkzoNobel, producer of quality paint brand Dulux, celebrated this Lunar New Year of the Rooster with a media appreciation dinner, highlighting its annual trend forecast, ColourFutures, depicting key colour trends and its prediction of the Colour of the Year 2017.

As a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals, AkzoNobel creates everyday essentials to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring. In a world filled with colour, the company not only brings colour to people’s lives but also helps to build a stronger sense of community which make cities more vibrant and to also inspire and bring life and energy to homes.

With the launch and unveiling of AkzoNobel’s Colour of the Year 2017 and as part of the company’s 15th annual colour trend guide which took place last October, the global colour authority identified ‘Denim Drift’ as the must-have colour of 2017.

‘Denim Drift’ (90BG 30/073 also known as Smoke Grey), identified as a beautiful, timeless and versatile grey-blue is all about balance, as we see an interesting contrast between bolder, more striking colours and selection of muted lighter shades which perfectly encapsulates the belief of “Yin and Yang” that everything in the universe consists of two forces that are opposing but complementary, making it apt for welcoming the auspicious Chinese New Year.

The brand’s overriding theme for 2017 ‘Life in a new light’, a new way of being’ is truly adaptable, fitting into all life and interior styles, making it the perfect choice for reflecting our new perspective for 2017. AkzoNobel encourages the celebration of a new look on the simple things that make life worth living.

New Romanticism, Shared Individualism, The Working Home and Considered Luxury are all reflections of how this new global awareness can be expressed in the different areas of our lives.

“Denim Drift is a wonderfully diverse foundation for the 2017 palettes, which tells the story of ‘life in a new light’. With denim blue set to dominate as the paint colour trend for tomorrow, Denim Drift is the perfect fit to reflect the times we live in, the real desire for simplicity. This makes it the ideal paint colour that will bring life in homes, to reflect the world we live in,” Mr. Laban further added.

Master Kenny Hoo explained that Feng Shui offers a variety of easy and practical tips to improve your life and with the use of the right colours can do wonders for your home. Feng Shui is often referred to as the art of placement, how you place your furniture, possessions, and yourself within your surroundings largely determines your life experience at every level.

“Feng Shui offers a unique way of looking at yourself and your environment, and it provides a way of bringing balance, comfort, and harmony into your environment in a manner that is difficult to achieve by any other means. We are all in love with colours, and we all respond to colours in more or less predictable ways. Feng Shui takes the use of colour to the next level, where each colour brings the desired Feng Shui energies to your home in order to create harmony and balance,” Master Kenny Hoo explained on Feng Shui.

“2017 is dubbed as “The Year of New Opportunities” reflecting light at the end of the tunnel and seeing Life in a New Light. There will be an abundance of good opportunities in 2017. Blue is a timeless and versatile colour of life, and will always be a constant in every aspect of our lives; from the clothes we wear, the sky we gaze and the water that revitalises us.
