Kuala Lumpur (29 November 2016) — Canon, a world leader in imaging solutions, today announced the launch of the new imagePROGRAF PRO series large format professional inkjet printers. The new 12 colour with Chroma Optimiser ink, 24-inch imagePROGRAF PRO-520 and 44-inch imagePROGRAF PRO-540 are designed to bring supreme image quality to professional photographer’s fine art photography applications. While the new 8 colour 44-inch imagePROGRAF PRO-540S and 60-inch imagePROGRAF PRO-560S deliver fast and reliable printing for high-volume print service providers that require photo quality vivid posters, banners and canvas.
The new imagePROGRAF professional printers which feature newly developed pigment inks and enhanced FINE print head technology allows the reproduction of high-detail, high-quality images on a wide variety of media. Professional photographers and graphic artists who print their work for display would require images with high detail, supreme clarity and superb quality with vibrant colours and textures as close to the original image captured as possible.
The launch was held in conjunction with the opening of Canon Marketing Malaysia new Production Printing Excellence Centre, a dedicated showroom showcasing the full range of professional printing products and solutions. The Centre located at Bukit Jelutong is the latest expansion of Canon Marketing Malaysia after its head office relocation to UOA Business Park in October.

The new 12 colour with Chroma Optimiser ink system imagePROGRAF PRO-520 and PRO-540 feature an attractive black design with an accentuated red line, echoing the same red line on Canon’s EF L-Series lenses that embodies the “Red Line for Professional”, the ultimate in Canon image quality. The PRO-520 and PRO-540 enable the full clarity and texture of photographs taken with a Canon EOS camera to be perfectly reproduced, thanks to Canon’s unique input-output technology and Crystal-fidelity feature. The feature-rich professional printers complement Canon’s professional line of DSLR cameras and lenses for an ideal pairing that allows the reproduction of high-detail, high-quality images when printed on a variety of media, creating images that look as accurately printed as when they were captured.
New ink and print head for superior performance
The newly developed LUCIA PRO pigment inks deliver exceptional image quality, allowing increased colour gamut and excellent shadow reproduction. The 12 colour imagePROGRAF PRO-520 and PRO-540 utilise the Chromo Optimiser ink to meet the demands of professional photographers and graphic artists to improve print performance on gloss paper. In addition, the Chroma Optimiser ink helps to reduce bronzing, improve scratch resistance and provide greater image clarity and gloss uniformity as well as increased black optical density.
The imagePROGRAF PRO series features a wider print head (1.28-inch wide) with anti-clogging technology, which improves efficiency as well as reduces cleaning cycles and prevents wasted ink. This newly developed print head allows a more compact printer design as only one print head is installed in each PRO Series printer. Additionally, all models maintain high print quality with a multi-sensor that calibrates the printer, ensuring color consistency from the first print to the last. The printers also feature a redesigned high-precision mechanical platform, providing a uniform, solid frame to reduce vibrations during printing and more accurate ink ejection.
Unbeatable efficiency for print service providers
The imagePROGRAF PRO-540S and PRO-560S boast an ergonomic compact design which is ideal for time and space-pressed print operations in graphic arts, advertising and creative sectors. Capable of processing large volumes of high-res images and data, the powerful LCOA PRO engine enables photo quality poster printing at double the speed.
Enhanced ease of use for greater user experience
The new imagePROGRAF PRO series includes several enhancements for increased usability, such as a redesigned 3.5 inch colour LCD touch panel, direct USB drive print capabilities, multi-function dual roll system and mobile connectivity. The 3.5 inch LCD will render a preview of the file to ensure users are printing the correct file. Users can now print PDF and JPEG files directly from a USB thumb drive for fast and easy printing without the need for a computer. The new series features Canon’s unique dual roll technology to support continuous paper feeding and take-up of printed output. The printers also feature effortless media feeding capabilities, allowing blemish-free prints caused by fingerprints. Additionally, the Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) capability allows smooth and easy connection to wireless LAN in office environments.
User-friendly software for added convenience
With a great focus on ease of use, the Print Studio Pro is a piugin for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and Canon Digital Photo Professional software to easily export files directly to the printers. The Quick Utility Toolbox feature provides users with a portal to launch and control software from one central interface and Accounting Manager is included to help users determine their overall printing expenses. Also included is the Device Management Console, an administrative tool which provides users with the means to manage up to 50 imagePROGRAF PRO series printers by monitoring activity such as error messages, printer information and execution status of calibrations all from one location.
