SEDANIA Innovator increases addressable market to 58 million with U Mobile partnership

Petaling Jaya (4 February 2016) — Mobile services enabler SEDANIA Innovator Berhad is set to increase its addressable market to approximately 58 million after the Group entered into a partnership with U Mobile Sdn Bhd (U Mobile) to provide Airtime Sharing (ATS) services via the Group’s proprietary platform.

U Mobile prepaid subscribers will be able to start using the service starting from early second half of 2016, enabling them to transfer and request for mobile credits from other users via short messaging service (SMS) as well as the recently-launched ‘ShareShare’ mobile application (app) available on the iOS Store and Google Play store.

The partnership agreement was signed today by SEDANIA Innovator Executive Director Firoz Mohd Noor and U Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Jasmine Lee.

“Our partnership with U Mobile is an exciting prospect, because we are enabling U Mobile to offer a new and convenient method for domestic ATS transactions. Moreover, we are collaborating with a brand that has a strong affinity with the younger generation, and where 70% of their subscribers are smartphone users.

This tie-up is certainly opportune, following the recent launch of our ‘ShareShare’ mobile app that empowers seamless peer-to-peer ATS transactions, among other services.

The increased addressable market of approximately 58 million is expected to augur well for our financial performance for the year ending 31 December 2016 (FY2016) and onwards. We are optimistic that this collaboration with a fast-growing brand will propel the velocity of the Group’s overall transaction volume, and induce a behaviour of sharing amongst peers, or perhaps in future, within families and other community groups.”

Firoz Mohd Noor
Executive Director of SEDANIA Innovator Berhad

U Mobile joins SEDANIA Innovator’s growing list of partners comprising mobile network operators (MNO) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) namely Celcom Axiata Berhad, Maxis Berhad and Tune Talk Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, as well as Robi Axiata Limited in Bangladesh. Altogether, the total 58 million subscribers would be able to access the services available on the Group’s proprietary ATS platform.

“U Mobile is always looking to add value and enhance our customer’s experience.  Mobile credit transfer is fast becoming the preferred method for prepaid users to send mobile credits to their family and friends and U Mobile is proud to partner with SEDANIA Innovator to offer the service.

Our customers can look forward to sending and requesting mobile credits in a fast, safe and convenient way wherever they are and whenever they want.”

U Mobile prepaid subscribers will be able to transfer mobile credits to other U Mobile prepaid subscribers via SMS and USSD Menu Browser (UMB). This service will also available on the ‘ShareShare’ app. Mobile credit transfer service details will be available on U Mobile’s website once the service is ready.
