Luxury gets taken up a notch with Lexus’ new ES series

If you love your cars to be teched up and elegant in equal measure, you’ll appreciate the charms of the new Lexus ES series that has just been launched today. It has a number of updates from its predecessor and comes in three different variants, the ES 250 Premium, the ES 250 Luxury and the top of the line ES300h.

The ES250 Premium and ES250 Luxury both come with an in-line 16-valve DOHC engine with a maximum output of 181hp @ 6000rpm and 235Nm@4,100rpm torque paired to a 6-speed Super ECT with A.I shift transmission and three different drive modes. The ES 300h differs from its siblings in that it comes with an in-line Atkinson-cycle 16-valve DOH hybrid engine mated to an E-CVT transmission with 158hp@5700rpm and 213Nm@4,500rpm of torque and a combined output of 105kW. For peace of mind the ES300h comes with an 8 year hybrid battery warranty.

Externally, the biggest updates to the new ES series are a revamp of the classic Lexus spindle grille along with redesigned headlamps and beefed up hardware all around. Internally, the new ES series comes tricked out with real leather and wood with Birdseye Maple Wood trim standard for all three variants of the ES. The ES300h comes with a 15-speaker system Mark Levinson audio system while the ES250 Premium and ES250 Luxury both come with an 8-speaker audio system. All three rides sport an 8-inch multimedia display as standard.

The highest end ES300h comes tricked out with all the bells and whistles with a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert so you can make safe lane changes and bungle proof reversing. Shoulder switches to adjust the front seat for rear passengers, power front seats and LED headlamps all come standard. This hardware also comes standard for the ES250 Luxury. Common to all three models is three-zone air conditioning as well as safety featuers in the form of ABS, Vehicle stability control, traction control, EBD, hill start assist, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert sensors, front and rear parking clearance sonar guides and SRS airbags. All three new variants can be had in one of half a dozen different colours – Sonic Quartz, Red MC, Platinum Silver Metallic, Amber, Graphite Black and Sonic Titanium with prices ranging from RM259,000 on the road and up.
