The Music Video for “Somewhere New” was shot with Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II.

OM-D Movie is one of the highlights of the E-M5 Mark II that allows cinematic quality video recording while shooting almost entirely hand-held. No additional stabilization rigs or supports were utilized in the entire duration of shooting for “Somewhere New”. The revolutionary 5-Axis Image Stabilization built into the E-M5 Mark II produces smooth and shake-free video output, with the stabilization effect similar to using a mini “steadycam”, producing high quality Full HD video even when shooting “gun and run” style, evidently in chasing and running scenes as seen in the video.

The freedom to shoot hand-held was further enhanced by the compact design and light-weight of the overall OM-D system. The E-M5 Mark II and M.Zuiko lenses are designed to be small and light, hence allowing flexibility to move around freely and shoot in tight spaces without the obstacles imposed by using large and heavy stabilization rigs.

The E-M5 Mark II is also fully weather-sealed against splash and dust. The cinematographers did not have to worry about the elements getting in the way of their shooting, while the Olympus cameras and lenses were completely covered in a thick layer of dust, particularly in the car chasing and sports drift action in a large, dusty land.

To support a full production shoot, the Olympus E-M5 Mark II was accompanied by wide array of high quality M.Zuiko lenses, covering from ultra wide angle to long telephoto-zoom range. The lenses used for the shoot of “Somewhere New” included premium M.Zuiko prime lenses 12mm F2, 17mm F1.8, 25mm F1.8, 45mm F1.8 and 75mm F1.8 lenses, as well as M.Zuiko PRO lenses 12-40mm F2.8 and 40-150mm F2.8. All these lenses have Movie and Still Compatible (MSC) design, which means they are fully optimized to be used to shoot video with silent focusing while maintaining fast and accurate focusing response.

With the 5-Axis Image Stabilization system allowing cinematic hand-held video recording, having small, light and weather-sealed construction for versatility and flexibility in shooting, as well as having full range of high quality M.Zuiko lenses, the OM-D E-M5 Mark II is the ultimate choice for film makers.
