Sony Mobile launches new smartphones and a tablet too

While Sony’s awaited successor to the Z3 didn’t make an appearance thus far, its slate-sized sibling the Z4 Tablet did make a showing at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The local launch saw its Malaysian debut along with two midrange workhorse phones – the M4 Aqua Dual and the C4 Dual.

The Z4 tablet is an example of Sony’s bespoke craftsmanship with curved edges and a smooth glassy finish on the rear that comes in either black or white. The Z4 Tablet is currently the world’s lightest and slimmest slate at 393g and 16.1mm. The specs are similarly top notch with a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 pixel display, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable memory with a microSD card slot. A SIM card slot offers LTE connectivity while a rear 8.1-MP camera and a front 5.1-MP camera cover casual social media shots and selfies. A 6000mAh battery keeps the whole affair powered for quite awhile with an estimated 17 hours of video playback. The Z4 Tablet on its own retails for RM2699 inclusive of GST and if you want, can opt to snag it with the Bluetooth keyboard, which magnetically hooks up to it and provides a modicum of protection as well as offering a touchpad in the bargain as well for RM3,199.

The C4 Dual is a selfie oriented smartphone with the front-facing 5-MP camera coming with a 25mm wide angle lens, a soft LED flash and Sony’s Exmor R sensor for more pleasing portrait shots. The C4 Dual itself comes with respectable hardware. A 5.5-inch 1080P display is up front while a 1.7GHz processor running Android Lollipop under the hood with 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable memory. It also sports LTE connectivity, sports dual SIM slots like its moniker implies and has a 13-MP rear camera. The C4 Dual ships in three different colours – black, white and vibrant mint. A final price will be announced later on next month.
