Acer today launched their latest Acer Concept store where visitors could get a hands-on and test the latest Acer devices. The launch also saw the launch of Acer’s latest two-in-one laptop the Acer Aspire Switch 10E that comes a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen, an Intel Atom 1.33GHz Z3735F atom processor and 2GB RAM along with expandable memory via a microSD card up to 128GB as well as Windows 8.1 with Bing. The Switch 10E also comes with a free copy of Microsoft Personal 365. Like other Windows devices, the Switch 10E can be upgraded to Windows 10 when it rolls along later this year.
The tablet portion is, as you’d surmise, detachable with a thatched texture on the backplate that wards off fingerprints and offers 12 hours of battery life before needing a juicing with the ability to be deployed in four different configurations – the traditional laptop mode, detached as a tablet and you’re even able to attach the tablet in reverse and deploy it propped up in tent mode or as a display. The tablet itself is sturdily attached via magnets to the full sized chiclet style keyboard.
One interesting security feature is what Acer calls Switchlock that locks the tablet to its companion keyboard to ensure that some aspiring prat doesn’t snag your slate and park it in another compatible Switch 10E keyboard to nick data. Either configuration of the Switch 10E can be had in five different colours – Moonstone White, Shark Grey, Peacock Blue, Magenta Pink and Coral Red. The Switch 10E can be had in two different configurations, one with 64GB of onboard memory but no hard disk for RM1099 and one with 32GB of onboard memory along with a 500GB hard disk ensconced within the keyboard.
