Sharp raises the bar with a series of proprietary technologies
Shah Alam (2 December 2014) — Sharp-Roxy Sales & Service (M) Sdn Bhd (SRSSC) launched its latest series of consumer appliances aimed at bringing more comfort and convenience to the homes of Malaysians while helping them save on utility bills.
“Our consumers’ demands have changed when it comes to home appliances due to several factors,” said Mr. Hiroyuki Nuizato, Managing Director of SRSSC, as he cited examples such as the electricity tariff hike, the softened economy in general and the upcoming GST implementation next year. According to him, these factors have driven an increasing demand for energy efficient appliances especially those that are high in comfort and convenience features to help ease time and effort in household tasks.
In line with the theme WAFU or Japanese Style, the highlights of the launch were Sharp’s latest range of J-Tech product line-up. J-Tech stands for Japanese Technology, which are engineered with two main elements – advanced Sharp technology and sincere Japanese hospitality.
Leading the range is the J-Tech refrigerators that offer the latest in Sharp inverter technology (simply dubbed as J-Tech Inverter) which allows for extremely precise temperature control resulting in reduction of energy consumption by 77%. This series also features Sharp’s award-winning Plasmacluster Ion Technology that eliminates 99% of bacteria and 97% of mold.
Other features are 30 minutes express freezing, delicate temperature levels of 0°C to 2°C for the enjoyment of truly ice cold drinks, a separated hygiene room specially built to keep dairy products fresher and a 3-Way Tempered Glass for convenience of storage solutions.
J-Tech air conditioners share the same J-Tech Inverter technology, boasting energy savings of up to 60%. This is achieved through a shorter time (3 hours as compared to current market standards of 5 hours) required to reach energy-saving-operation mode. The Powerful Jet mode delivers strong blasts of chilled air, capable of reducing 5°C in only 5 minutes and temperature reaches the preset level approximately 40% faster than conventional air conditioners. Elevated levels of comfort are also available through the Plasmacluster Ion Technology, various automated sleep modes and a self-cleaning function.
The other highlight of the day included the three amazing series of Sharp AQUOS LCD TVs. The COCORO EYE series made its debut, showcasing its ability to sense presence and lighting conditions, and thus maintaining brilliant colour setting all the time. The accurate sensor will also have assist lighting for the dark and self-turn-off features whenever the user is not around. Developed as the next generation of intelligent LED-backlight LCD TV, the COCORO EYE series is truly the TV that, “Knows You Well”.
Next up was the powered by Android™ series, the first of its kind Smart TV in Malaysia, for those who are tech savvy. And finally, the Quattron Pro series, the only TV series in the world with 4-colour display panels, shared the same stage with its ability to provide beyond ultra-high definition viewing experience.
“We will definitely be raising the bar here as Sharp will be the first consumer electrical brand to offer a cloud based security system product to our consumers. Not only are we providing them with the security they need but also the convenience that they want,” said Mr. Nuizato as he introduced the Sharp Cloud SmartHome System.
The Cloud SmartHome System offers users full control in the monitoring and surveillance of their property and loved ones’ security either onsite or remote. The system goes beyond home and property protection. For busy working parents, it can also be useful to monitor the elderly and children at home. Since it is cloud-based, users have full access to the system anywhere they are as long as they are connected to the Internet via a user-friendly app on their smart devices.
Finally, the all-new DD Inverter Washer was also introduced. Its highly efficient direct drive inverter is able to save up to 37.5% in energy consumption, features quieter operations and greater durability. A host of automated functions have also been added to help users save time and effort as well as water consumption.
When asked about his outlook about next year, Mr. Nuizato explained, “2015 will prove to be a challenging year. However, our winning formula is a simple yet effective one. Innovative products and sincerity in our commitment to deliver only the best to the consumers are part of the formula that have always and will continue to give us a competitive edge.”
Fostering an air of optimism, he added, “The other piece of the puzzle (in our strategy) lies in the strength of our relationships with our valued dealers and business partners. Just like how they have supported us for many years, we will do the same for them, if not more.”
To support the latest launch, in the upcoming months Sharp will be rolling out a series of marketing and promotional activities including media buys, festive campaigns and nationwide roadshows.
