Kuala Lumpur (6 November 2014) — MINI Malaysia today introduced the New MINI Cooper S Countryman. The New MINI Countryman creates as much of a stir and is a head turner in major cities as well as on the highways and country roads of Malaysia, making the MINI ideal for trendsetters and leisure time enthusiasts with families. With an overall length of 4-metres, there’s never been another MINI with so much exterior flexibility and space for five people, plus luggage. It’s right at home wherever it goes, be it a jaunt to the beach, a drive out of town or just in town for a spot of shopping.

Until the month of October 2014, MINI Malaysia has already delivered a total of 535 MINIs here, a 45% increase as compared to the same period in 2013 where we delivered 370 cars. Design: powerful stature & sporty
With striking body design accents, refined premium characteristics in the interior and enhanced agility and efficiency, the new MINI Countryman specifically emphasizes all the strengths that account for its exceptional standing within the competitive field.
The drivetrain : remarkable go-kart drive feeling
The impressively powerful and extensive engine portfolio of the MINI Cooper S Countryman is equipped with four cylinders petrol engine that is accompanied by remarkably low fuel consumption and emissions. Possesing MINI’s trademark go-kart driving dynamics, the MINI Cooper S Countryman is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection completed with a fully variable valve management, to generate a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp; improved by +5kW at 5,500-6,500 rpm. The peak torque of this MINI Cooper S Countryman is 240 Nm, on tap between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm (260Nm available on overboost); all of which enables the MINI Cooper S Countryman to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 212 km/h, compared to 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 205 km/h the last time. Despite the impressive acceleration, average fuel economy in the EU test cycle stands at a notable 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres compared to 8.1 litres previously.
Exterior
Externally, the new MINI Cooper S Countryman provides a familiar interpretation of the classic MINI Countryman features such as the large glass surfaces and distinctive contours of the roof, the extra-wide border around the lower part of the body, the 18 inch light alloy wheels in anthracite with Turbo Fan design and comes as standard as a five seater with ample space to ensure comfort over long journeys with generous legroom, headroom and shoulder room. The new MINI Cooper S Countyman also showcases its own individualism by emphasizing new eye-catching features on its exterior such as the newly designed structure of a horizontal front grille design with blade element along with a curved “S” in red to ensure instant recognition. Other new additions include the Xenon headlights, LED fog lights and daytime driving lights that provide an intense bright white light with a much higher level of energy efficiency than conventional headlamps.
Interior: optimised acoustic comfort and refined premium characteristics
In its new interior offering, the new MINI Cooper S Countryman boasts a selection of new design and functional elements.This include the MINI Visual Boost with a 6.5 inch high-resolution colour LCD screen, and for the very first time, MINI Countryman is featuring the MINI Connected app for that allows users to pick up preferred radio stations from around the world regardless of their location, provides access to innovative entertainment, social networking and driving-related functions, turning the MINI Cooper S Countryman into a multimedia hub on wheels. The MINI Connected also take its technology a step ahead where users can have permanent and unlimited access to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. MINI Connected functionalities also include the Mission Control which coaches the driver on sustainable driving techniques with useful information obtained from the vehicle’s sensors; it is also loaded with around 1,800 pre-recorded messages. Besides being useful, this technology assures a great deal of joy and excitement.
Just like all the other MINI, this car comes with an automatic air-conditioning but what makes it slightly special is the touch of the chrome element bordering the air-con adjustment knob together with a premium quality outer ven housing. With refined details and reinforced premium characteristics in the interior; Piano black interior surface, dark dials for the centre speedo and rev counter, improved interior insulation, this car also comes with chrome line interior finishing.The leather Gravity Carbon Black upholstery and the versatile sports seat for both driver and passenger reinforces more the powerful character of the new MINI Cooper S Countryman.
With the Park Distance Control, entering or leaving the tightest parking space becomes much easier while driving this car. An acoustic warning signal lets you know how close you are to the car or object behind you.
Another addition to the car would be the extra helpings of fun urban driving that can be summoned with a touch of the Sport Button, which tweaks the engine’s responses and the power assistance provided by the steering.
The new MINI Cooper S Countryman’s exterior paint finishes has been expanded with addition of two new metallic colours; Jungle Green and Midnight Grey, also the Starlight Blue metallic is now available on the MINI Countryman for the first time. The new MINI will be available at all authorised MINI dealerships from the weekend of the 15th and 16th of November onwards.
