Selangor (8 April 2013) –  Professional photographers, travellers and even the most casual of users will certainly have something to look forward to in Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd’s latest launch of compact digital cameras. Joining Canon’s comprehensive range of PowerShot and IXUS camera series are five new and exciting models – the flagship model PowerShot G1 X Mark II, PowerShot SX700 HS, PowerShot D30, and IXUS 155 and 145.

Professional quality and enhanced creativity in the palm of your hand
The PowerShot G1 X Mark II offers users more powerful and advanced capabilities than its predecessor, incorporating high-end features that deliver superior images comparable to that of an interchangeable lens camera.

Its large 1.5” type CMOS sensor is approximately 4.5 times larger than the size of existing 1/1.7” type sensors in other compact cameras. Together with its high pixel count of 12.8-megapixel (3:2 aspect ratio), 9 blade aperture lens (f/2.0-3.9) and 5x zoom lens (24-120mm equivalent), professionals and tech-savvy photographers are able to capture immensely beautiful imagery and create stunning bokeh effects, all with the convenience a compact camera affords. Meanwhile, its 31-point AF system makes for an enhanced autofocus (AiAF) performance, allowing users to focus more accurately on subjects, even when positioned in the outer corners of the framing area.

The design of the PowerShot G1 X Mark II is no less impressive. Innovative and convenient, it features dual control rings that give users added control when shooting. All they would need to do is to customise the inner step ring to instantly adjust shutter speed, aperture or exposure value settings, and the outer continuous ring to make fine manual focus adjustments or other customisable setting adjustments.

Users are also given ample leeway to test their creativity and skills, thanks to the PowerShot G1 X Mark II’s Creative Shot function and Star Mode. The Creative Shot function allows users to capture the same shot in six variants from an array of 46 different creative filters including Retro, Monochrome, Special and Natural. The function intelligently analyses the scene and automatically selects the best suited creative filter.

Meanwhile, the Star Mode allows users to capture breathtaking night shots with functions such as Star Nightscape that capture stars and sceneries at optimal brightness, Star Trail that shoots stars with trails, and the advanced Star Time-Lapse movie where movement of the stars can be beautifully captured in a movie. The newly added Star Portrait function captures three images consecutively, then automatically composites them to achieve a final image where human subject and starry sky are optimally lit and emphasised.

Users needing different capture angles, be they extremely high or low, or those who love taking ‘selfies’ will be delighted with the PowerShot G1 X Mark II’s unique tilt screen LCD panel. It can be tilted up to 180 degrees for great ‘selfie’ shots, and downwards to 45 degrees, enabling them greater freedom while framing shots.

Furthermore, users also have the option to attach an Electronic View Finder (EVF) to the hot shoe. Instead of using the PowerShot G1 X Mark II’s high-precision XGA resolution LCD with 2.36 million dots, the optional EVF makes it easier to shoot in bright daylight, as it greatly reduces glare. Not using the camera’s LCD will also help preserve battery life.

With the PowerShot G1 X Mark II’s Wi-Fi capabilities and NFC technology, users can easily share and sync photos with other smart devices and printers, as well as other NFC-enabled devices through the Mobile Connect button. Additionally, users can also control the camera remotely using the Camera Window app through their smart device over the internet. The app allows users to make focusing changes and basic adjustments like exposure and ISO speed.

Travel made more exciting with zoom

When travelling, users usually require two main things in a camera – portability and high zoom capabilities. The 16.1-megapixel PowerShot SX700 HS scores well not only on these two requirements, but also offers the traveller superior, high quality photos.

The PowerShot SX700 HS is specially designed with a sleek 34.8mm body – slimmer than many competitors in its class, with a comfortable grip for easy handling when shooting at high zooms.

Thanks to Canon’s DIGIC 6 imaging processor and cutting-edge 30x zoom lens, users are able to capture superior photos, even in long distance shots. The advanced imaging processor also allows users to record high quality videos in Full HD, either at 60p or at 30p,

in an MP4 compression format. Besides that, the PowerShot SX700 HS is designed with Canon’s ZoomPlus technology, which pushes its zoom capabilities to approximately 60x with little to no compromise in quality.

Camera shake when shooting at long distances is minimised with the camera’s optical IS and Zoom Framing Assist function that helps users track subjects and keep them in frame. To add more to the user’s experience, the PowerShot SX700 HS also incorporates an auto mode, which automatically tracks the subject(s) and zooms in or out depending on the subject(s)’ movement or size. This helps users to easily maintain photo composition.

Remaining connected is not an issue. Like the PowerShot G1 X Mark II, the PowerShot SX700 HS comes with Wi-Fi and NFC technology for easy sharing and syncing of photos and videos with other smart devices.

Durability for adventurers

Canon Powershot D30_smallFor users who love diving and/or extreme sports, the 12.1-megapixel PowerShot D30 is set to impress with its durability and reliability.

Without needing an additional case, the PowerShot D30 is the world’s deepest waterproof compact digital camera. It can go underwater to a depth of 25 metres, and is able to resist shock when dropped from heights of up to 2 metres. It also operates at very cold temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius.

To complement the lifestyle of a rugged sports enthusiast even further, the PowerShot D30 features a 28mm wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom, as well as an intelligent Image Stabiliser (IS) that minimises blurring caused by shaky hands. With Canon’s DIGIC 4 imaging processor, users are able to take underwater photos with rich colours at high resolution, as well as record stunning Full HD videos at 24p. A dedicated Movie button next to the shutter release enables fast video shooting, so users need not miss out in capturing rare moments. Furthermore, the PowerShot D30’s Movie Digest mode allows users to shoot 4 seconds of video before each photo.

For users’ convenience, each button is designed to be large for easy operation, even when users are wearing gloves. The LCD screen is also enhanced with a Sunlight mode, minimising glare in bright and sunny conditions.

Simplicity at your fingertips

Casual users seeking for a simple yet powerful entry level camera need look no further than Canon’s IXUS 155.

The 20.0-megapixel camera’s sleek design is perfectly complemented with the DIGIC 4+ imaging processor and a CCD sensor that boosts processing time by up to 60% when shooting at high ISO speeds. With the IXUS 155’s improved intelligent IS function, enhanced start-up and auto-focusing time, users are able to capture brilliant images at just a click of a button.

Long distance shots are also possible as the camera features a 10x optical zoom lens (24-240mm equivalent) as well as Canon’s ZoomPlus technology, which doubles this distance to about 20x zoom with little to no effect on image quality.

Performance in all occasions

The IXUS 145 is the ideal imaging solution for beginners who want basic functionality with a simple interface.

The 16-megapixel IXUS 145 is an entry-level camera designed with DIGIC 4+ imaging processor, giving excellent performance in its class. It also incorporates video recording capabilities, capturing in HD quality at 720p.

With its easy-to-use interface and a dedicated Help button, users can easily learn more about the camera’s functions and how to operate it without needing to refer to an instruction manual.
