Exabyte Hosts CGM Game Jam 2013

Kuala Lumpur (29 November 2013) – Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd (‘Exabytes’), Malaysia’s largest web hosting provider, today announced that the company is bringing the international game prototype development contest – CGM Game Jam 2013 to Malaysia.

GCM Game Jam 2013 is a 36-hours game development marathon which will be held between 14 -15 December 2013 at the Exabytes’ premise located in SetiaWalk, Puchong, Selangor.

GCM is a popular game development competition which kick-started in 2005 and was first introduced in Japan. This year, CGM Game Jam 2013 takes place in 3 countries Japan, Thailand and also Malaysia to promote social awareness on the gaming industry developments.

Exabytes’s CEO, Mr. Chan Kee Siak, “The contest is open to all local game enthusiastic, game designers and developers, gaming communities, graphic artists, students and mass public with the objective of encouraging digital innovation in the nation gaming sector”.

Participating teams are required to design and develop the game prototype with Unity engine hosted on a Photon server. Upon the competition starts, organizer will provide a theme of the game for teams to kick-start the game prototype development.

The completed games will be presented to the judging committee for review. Chan highlights, “We are truly honored to have Dr. Ganesan Velayathan, Founder of Fun & Cool Ventures Inc. who has agreed to become one of our judging panels.”

“Being one of the successful game application developers, Dr. Ganesan can certainly inspire our participants and provide them with a reflective learning opportunity to get to know more about the benefits of new methods and technologies for game making,” adds Chan.

With a total of over 2 million click-on download, “Sushi Friends” game application is one of the most popular sushi games that Dr. Ganesan has developed and available on Android platform.

Malaysians who are 18 and above are eligible to participate in the GameJam 2013 competition. Each team must have a minimum 3 persons and should not exceed a maximum of 5 persons. The competition allows only a maximum of 7 teams’ participation and the opportunity is granted on a first-come-first-serve basis. All interested parties must register before 07 December 2013.
