U Mobile Broadens Footprint in the East Coast Region

Kuala Lumpur, 18 September 2013 –Orange is the most evident colour in the streets of Kota Bahru as U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s most innovative and dynamic 3G mobile service provider, broadens the company’s footprint in the East Coast of Malaysia through the opening of a new service centre in the area.

The telco’s second outlet within the East Coast region after Kuantan branch is part of U Mobile’s strategy to expand its presence by bringing its flexible plans and affordable products and services closer to its customers. Located in the heart of Kota Bharu, the service centre will serve as a touch point for customers to discover U Mobile’s latest products and services, make bill payments and seek service assistance.

Customers and residents within the vicinity were invited to be part of the joyous celebration, which saw a few of U Mobile senior management team members – Wong Heang Tuck, interim Acting CEO cum Chief Operating Officer and Alex Tan, Director of Sales being ushered in by dancers and talents holding bunga manggar. Audiences were treated with a traditional dance performance before the senior management staff hit the gong for three times to officiate the opening of U Mobile’s new outlet in Kota Bharu.

“Being a strong data service player in the local market, we are constantly exploring avenues and initiatives to bring affordable yet high quality internet services to consumers; so that they can stay connected with their friends and family, surf the Internet and access their favourite multimedia content. We are receiving overwhelming response to our UMI prepaid plan in the East Coast, and by broadening our footprint here, U Mobile is bringing more possibilities to our customers so that they can enjoy the benefits of our products and services,” said Wong Heang Tuck, Acting CEO cum Chief Operating Officer of U Mobile.

“With the activation of the 3G RAN Sharing with Maxis late last year, we are now providing nationwide coverage and are certainly looking into opening up more outlets and touch-points to bring greater convenience and accessibility to our customers, especially in East Malaysia,” he added.

In conjunction with the opening, U Mobile also threw a special promo to prepaid and broadband plan subscribers who signed-up from 15 to 18 September 2013. Postpaid subscribers who signed up within the period were entitled to take part in a lucky draw, where they stood a chance to win brand new Samsung, HTC, Sony and Huawei smart devices. Broadband plan subscribers, on the other hand, had the chance to win brand new modems from the lucky draw. Visitors and customers were also treated with special U Mobile premium and scrumptious meals as part of the celebration of the new store opening.
